Mystery Penis Bump?

September 20th, 2008 · 11 Comments

Mystery Bump:

I have a bump on my penis that recurs on what seems to be a yearly basis. It always appears in the same place and always starts as a small "grain of sand" under my skin. I can pinch it between my fingers and roll it around. It stays this way for about a month and then grows almost overnight into a considerably bigger bump, one about the size of a full BB.
Now it is visually obvious as it is bigger and a pinkish/red shade. Again, it lasts for a while (again, about a month) and goes away.

I don't know what this is. Right now it is in the big bump stage.
Please Help!
Thanks for all the help so far. I should mention that there's no pain or fluid at all. It's just a mystery bump. I did see a doctor last year and he said (like many of you have) that it is probably a cyst, ingrown hair, or swollen gland. It's just reassuring to hear it from second and third opinions.

Thanks!

the coming and going part makes it sound like herpes, but the way you describe it makes it sound less like herpes. to be safe, you should get checked for std's. you don't want to be spredding anything to anyone.

      See your doctor….
could be herpes or could be syphillis

Get a herpes and syphillis test done. It could be an ingrown hair too.

      Just see the doctor.

could be a simple skin tag that you get from friction. alot of people get these in different areas, but u do need to see the doc.

It sounds like it's a cyst. I have always heard if you can move the cyst around, it's nothing to worry about. However if you have one that you can move, it could be cancerous. I don't' know how much truth is in that. It's just what I have heard. Good Luck to you!

I believe it is a cyst, they come and go ,then one day it gets inflamed and then grows, or a start to a boil problem

I know the doc said its no biggie, but i would check it out again with a professional. Sometimes with these unknown problems they could be miss diagnosed, and actually no trivial thing.
      Good luck man.

If it keeps reoccuring mention your concern to your doctor and maybe you should get another opinion if you are still not comfortable with this situation.

go to the doctor that's the best thing you could do, many here can tell you it has to do with hormones or just a simple pimple in fact your doctor is the only one that has a answer, just go to the doctor and find the answer for yourself, don't be shy to ask the doctor and be ready if you need to be checked, good luck!
