I was wondering, what is so bad about porn and masturbation in the eyes of Catholics? I know it is a sin in the eyes of Catholics, but y? I have read many things saying that it is wrong because u r “spilling ur seed” and u rnt loving somebody like u should. But i have also seen other things saying, that nowhere in the bible does it say that masturbation is bad, and that we should be careful about what the Church teaches us. Also, I have learned from religion classes that we shouldnt blindly follow the church’s laws, and we should do what we feel is right. I understand what the church’s teaching is, but is it really that bad to masturbate as long as it isnt an addiction, say once ever other week or so?
Effie, funny comment, but i mean views
wow, everyone, VIEWS, not actual eyes
im glad i could give everyone a good laugh, but can we focus on the actual question plz, i need some help.

Masturbating in anyone's eye is bad.
At the very least, rude.
It burns.

Happy Masturbating…

Hey! It’s rude to shoot someone in the eye!
Unless they paid extra for the service, of course.

I agree with poster #1.
Masterbate and someone’s eyes, and they’ll be pissed!
They’ll have to clean it off, too!
That’s nasty.

I don;t think you should be worring about this. Masterbation is normal and it’s not a sin to love yourself. I think that Catholics are more worried about getting carried away because it feels good and wanted to have premarital sex.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."137 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."138
2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

It does not have to mention masturbation by this name in the Bible for it to be morally wrong, there are many verses that hold up morality and purity as pleasing to God and compromising against moral principles will never make impurity right.
We have seen how people have tried to validate sexual behaviour that is a sin against purity by suggesting terrible things, like Jesus had relations with Mary Magdalene for example, to anyone with any sense of principled ethics this is insulting to Christs own purity.
God bless.

If people fantasize during masturbation then it’s the fantasizing which might be sinful (depending on what they fantasize about), not the masturbation. The Bible never says that masturbation is a sin.
Also, psychiatrists offices are full of people who can’t ‘get it on’ with the opposite sex after years of pleasing themselves with a variety of porn.
Women become insensitive to real sex after using the vibrator for years.
Don’t tell me it isn’t a problem, it is. My husband is a doctor and hears these stories all the time.

St. Paul taught that any form of sexual activity other than between church approved married couples for the sole purpose of procreation was a sin. Masturbation need not be mentioned specifically since it’s covered by the blanket injunction of not leading to pregnancy. This is also the basis for the injunctions against contraception and oral/anal sex, even for married couples.
You are also mistaken in attributing such injunctions solely to Catholics, the Puritans took it even further, some going so far as too require married couples to put a fence in their beds to prevent accidental physical contact in their sleep.
As to blind obedience to religious laws, I would argue against blind obedience of any kind, “I was only following orders” was the kind of thinking that let people in WW2 heard women and children into ovens and feel good about it.
