I think that is the church's stance on it, yes. Funny with all of their billions and trillions of dollars and so many problems in the world, all they seem to care about is preventing people from gratifying themselves sexually.
Even if it is to them, who cares, God comes before man if you’re religious right? Check the bible, it has a commandment how to clean oneself after masturbating, meaning it was allowed, as long as you followed the commandment to clean.
Leviticus 15- 16-17: “And if any man’s seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even. And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed of copulation, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even[ing].”
We see here this is only to men, though, and female masturbation isn’t even mentioned.
The root to the whole “Masturbation is a sin” is the story of Onan, when his brother died, God told him to take his wife, and make a child for him through her, and instead of ejaculating inside her and ejaculated onto the ground, thus angrying God, and then God killed him.
Note:You had to take your brother’s wife as yours, if he did not get a chance to make himself(your brother) a child, and died. It was to carry on your brother’s name.
It is a sin because it misuses the gift of sex. God’s first command to us was “be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.” He made sex to be pleasurable, unitive and procreative.
Masturbation involves only a selfish approach to sex. It is not uniting a husband and wife, and certainly not procreative. It often involves fantasy which means objectifying other human beings and degrading them by using them. God created us to desire each other but to express that desire within the context of love and openess to life.
Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, “Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul.”
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person’s body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person, anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

The only immoral actions are those which hurt others.
But many Christians don’t believe masturbation is right in the eyes of Jesus.

It doesn’t make any difference what religion you are if you are saved. You can be forgiven but you need to try to get over it too.
